Bio

Jesse Mangerson is a contemporary realist painter touching on a wide variety of subjects including cityscape, landscape, and the figure. Much of his work bridges the gap between fine art and illustration as his process pairs the practice of location painting and direct observational study with his use of multiple photo references to create unique narrative works.

Jesse studied illustration at both the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, earning a BFA, and at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA earning an MFA.  His work developed under the influences of Kazuhiko Sano, Craig Nelson, Mark Tennant, and William Maughan.

He holds a faculty position at the Academy of Art where he  instructs students in the Master's program through the online platform and authors online courses.  Jesse's work has been shown in galleries throughout the US, in group shows, Salon competitions, and solo venues. His paintings hang in the homes of private collectors nationally.

Jesse lives with his wife and children in Madison, WI.
